SKU Paris, a brand that offers great quality underwear and swimwear. One quick realisation you would come to is that this is something that only appears on one platform – Inderwear.com. There has been a previous example of this with the brand Collusion at ASOS (use code Swim Undy to get 20%) where the products were only found on that site and no where else.

Unlike Collusion, however, SKU has a great range of underwear styles – boxer briefs, briefs, bikinis and thongs. As well as swim thongs which come in 12 variants. As well, there is a generous BOGO with 50% off the second item which is a great offer. So with that, I got the Khaki and Navy blue suits, one in size small (S) and one in medium (M).

Thong & Material

The swim suit has a small silhouette at the front with a seamed center that offers full coverage and light support. Mind you, this is a fully unlined suit and doesn’t come with a drawstring.

With a slightly pronounced pouch, this suit falls into the typical style of non-mainstream branding of men’s swimwear instead of offering compression or tighter fits that typical swim briefs would have.

At the front, the sides have a very steep cut which widens out to form a great looking silhouette that joins a narrow waistband of around 1 inch if not less.

Interestingly enough, the suits do ship out with some additional items, such as a laundry pouch and colourfast sheets (not pictured)

There is a close knit center seam that runs from the top of the suit and joins at the crotch but in the Khaki version, falls slightly off center.

On the left hip sits the brand logo on what is otherwise a very nondescript swim suit. Double stitching adds a nice embellishment to the suit. Being that it is done in the same color thread as the suit, wouldn’t be very obvious unless if up close.

Following the waistband around to the back, there’s a gradual taper to the thong back. This offers a great visual, and fit, to the suit than just a slim drop would. At the narrowest part of the thong, the width appears to be the same as the waistband which then slightly billows out to the crotch.

Comfort & Wear

Made of 82% Polyester and 18% Elastane, the slightly brushed effect has a softened feel whilst wearing. The khaki suit doesn’t have the characteristic sheen that swimwear has which is more noticeable in the navy suit.

The rise seems about average and not quite high and definitely not low-rise. This can increase the larger the suit size.

The size small (S) was initially supposed to fit a waist of 28″ – 30″ (inches). At the moment however, size small (S) shows as being 30″ – 33″ and the navy suit is a size medium (M) 33″ – 36″. Extra-small (XS) 27″ – 30″ would’ve been the one to go for.

The fit for the small is just bordering on acceptable, but would have preferred something more tighter fitting and a bit more lower rise. The medium fits a bit more loosely and sits a bit higher, but not by too much.

This might be OK for lounging and perhaps some light activity but most likely would be prone to having to adjust after moderate activity in the water so might not be great for laps or serious swim sessions.

Verdict

SKU Swim thongs are a great option in an otherwise lacking space for men’s swimwear, particularly for swim thongs. The cut and style are excellent, although it does fall short when it comes to offering a tighter fit.

A smaller size and slightly more elastic material could be the key to a better fitting suit. Otherwise this is a great for leisure or for a quick dip and light swimming. The soft texture and lightweight, unlined material means that this can double as underwear.
