Throughout the course of life’s rigors and rush, it’s hard to take care of one self. Sure you might be working out, drinking plenty of fluids, trying to get those 8 hours of sleep in. Right?

Well even if you do, or don’t do that, one thing that gets neglected is a bit of TLC for your skin, particularly one area which isn’t always what most people see quite often of themselves. If you don’t wear thong style swimwear, this still isn’t something you would be thinking about.

Just like any other part of the body however, and maybe more so than others, this is one area of the skin where you will want to take a bit more care. Particularly given that most people would be sitting on this area which is mostly covered all the time meaning that the stresses on the skin on the buttocks are more and often neglected.

What can you do? Well fear not, as we will go through some products and routine that you can throw into you weekly schedule to give your butt and beauty treatment it needs.*

Get Buffed

The first step of taking care of your skin would be to stimulate and exfoliate it. This removes any dead skin cells which is not only great for allowing any skin care products to be absorbed more easier, and thus work better, but can potentially help reduce any blemish, marks, acne and reduce ingrown hair.

There are different varieties of products that can help do to this, with the majority accomplishing this through physical means such as abrasive material that helps to slough off the top layer of skin as well as chemical means. These can be found from a variety of brands and retailers

Bean Around

This is a local brand that creates exfoliating bar made from repurposed coffee beans. Apart from the physical exfoliation that coffee grounds have on the skin, caffeine is a great way to rejuvenate the skin. Although in this form, it might not be as high as fresh grounds. The bar does also have ingredients found in regular soap as well as essential oils for getting a clean, smooth and supple feeling. This is also great for removing fake tan if that’s your cup of tea.

Miscellaneous

These two are the more reusable options and one isn’t even something that would be used on the buttocks but the procedure is common in spa and skin therapy.

First up we have an exfoliating brush. This has an ergonomic grip which helps to hold it without the risk of slipping away. The scrubbing surface as soft plastic bristles which can be used to gently exfoliate away dead skin cells. A great way to prevent ingrown hair after shaving or waxing. The fact that it is gentle and a physical process, it can be used daily.

Next is a micro needle brush. While this is designed for using on the face, it can equally be used on the glutes and surrounding area, although caution is advised not to used it nearer to the sensitive skin around the genital area. This is done after exfoliating and any cream or lotions applied.

The micro needles reach deeper into the skin to allow deeper absorption. The minimal damage introduced by the holes created encourage the natural healing process which can restore collagen in the skin. This can potentially help with reduce marks, scarring and lessening the severity of stretch marks.

Moisturize and Soothe

After exfoliating and cleansing the skin, it is ready to be rejuvenated and restored. Naturally the normal skin processes would help with this, but when it comes to aging or damaged skin, a bit of help is very much needed. This can not only keep your skin protected and resilient to better handle daily stresses but can potentially help reduce marks, scarring or general wear and tear. The overall effects makes the skin, look and feel tighter and more evenly toned.

Moisturizers abound in terms of brands and varieties. But just moisturizing isn’t sometimes enough and there are certain special products which help nourish, moisturize as well as help aid the regenerative processes of the skin.

Lacura Booty Balm

Lacura Summer Touch Booty Balm is an Aldi own brand product so might be in your local store, although this might be subject to availability. With the low prices and claims to improve skin elasticity and firmness after 28 days of use, it’s definitely one to try out.

Coconut oil is traditionally great for moisturizing and has medicinal properties which are great for replenishing tired worn out skin. To top it up is Cupuacu butter, which is far more readily absorbed in the skin and retains water far better than shea butter while anti-oxidants helps with skin elasticity. [ 1 ]
