THONG & MATERIAL
What’s interesting about the ASOS swim thong is the tanga like waistband to which the front of the swimsuit joins. The waistband lays flat with just over 3/4 of an inch of material and offers a light stretch. This is great for a secure fit that will keep up while doing some laps without cutting or rolling.
It offers fairly good coverage up front with a great fitting triangular silhouette which is neither too tame or daring. The front is fully lined on the inside with a much softer material than the rest of the suit. The suit is made of 82% Polyamide and 18% Elastane with the liner made from 91% Polyester and 9% Elastane.
The back similarly joins to the waistband with a slightly wider point of contact than the front, however, most of this is underneath the waistband, so the front and back are relatively similar in terms of width. There is a slight billowing right after the side joins which curves quite quickly to a thong back. Even though this part is relatively thin and quickly tapers down, it isn’t just a small triangle that drops to a thong cut. This with the similar colored waistband provides a nicer cut to the back than just a narrow waistband that would drop too quickly.
COMFORT AND WEAR
The flat waistband with the relatively wide front and equally wide thong upper back means that this suit will stay nice and secure even after tousling in the water for a bit.
The model shown is extra-small which is meant to fit a 30″ waist. From waistband to the crotch, it is 6.75 inches in height offering a great low-rise fit. This is including the 3/4 inch waistband. The thong back is 8 inches at the widest and tapers to just 1 inch. The front of the thong is 6.5 inches at the widest and 2 inches at the crotch.
VERDICT
The style and cut might not appeal to everyone, however, this is a must own piece in any wardrobe as the low-rise fit frames the body splendidly.
Even with the lack of a drawstring, the suit offers a secure fit, which is easy to pull on or take off. All in all, this suit is great for lounging, strolling, or equally, a quick lap as well. The narrow waistband offers the best of string type look while minimizing rolling and the front and back allow for a snug secure fit which oozes style and no fuss or adjustments while coming out of the water.
